What do you want to say and to whom?
There’s a cost to not speaking up about something that’s important to us.
We can be so good at telling ourselves that it’s not worth saying anything, believing it’ll just cause problems and it’ll just go away.
Yet often what’s left unsaid creates more problems.
The behaviour continues.
The enviroment doesn’t change.
The challenge we’re facing remains the same.
It takes its toll.
We convince ourselves ‘we’re good’, but our energy tells a different story.
It leaves those around us feeling confused. They can sense something’s off but can’t quite put their finger on it.
It leaves us feeling off-kilter because on some level we know we’re denying ourselves.
We plaster on that smile while dying a little inside every day.
So how do you know when to speak up versus letting it go through to the keeper?
Sometimes it’s obvious. You know you can’t stay silent. Those times take care of themselves.
However, we’re not always in tune with our feelings and our reaction in the moment can be sometimes less than desired.
Yet we continue to have a choice about the moments, hours, days, weeks, months, and years that follow.
There’s a price to pay when we continue to ignore the messages that are coming through from something inside ourselves that’s bigger than our minds and our limitations.
On the other side of the discomfort is the life you want to experience.
What do you need to do to be true to you today?
When that’s your baseline, a path forward becomes clear.
